The first 5-7 seconds on your web site are the most important. In that short span, site visitors determine whether they stay or click away. Therefore, your graphic design must appeal to and motivate your target audience instantly. Everything must coordinate to create a good impression. Colors, shapes, fonts, images, even layout and spacing provide a visual impact. The most important thing to consider is who is my audience and what are their expectations. Bright colors, strobing light effects and background music are perfect for a band but less so for a bank. A site with lots of information and links can be unappealing if I just want to get online to access my checking account but perfect if I am looking for investment options. By keeping your visitors' needs in mind you can create a usable, attractive site.
